Disney Pixar’s Coco is such a great celebration of family and Mexican culture as it relates to Dia de los Muertos! To celebrate, we’ve brought you a list of 10+ Coco-inspired crafts and recipes you can create at home!
Now- you might be wondering why I am celebrating the movie Coco on this blog- since we are a Costa Rica-focused blog, right?
The answer is that as Costa Rican-American bilingual parents living in the United States, we think it’s super important to reinforce all Latino culture in the US when we can.
The Spanish translation of Coco is phenomenal, which means we can keep our goal of prioritizing Spanish language television as much as possible.
Plus- Day of the Dead and Halloween are fun, and even though Costa Rican Halloween traditions are different, it’s important for kids to learn about traditions from all over Latin America.
The Pixar Coco movie is an amazing celebration of family- but it also celebrates Mexican culture to the hilt. See our Coco movie review for more info on the movie. I also had the phenomenal opportunity interview the director of photography in this fun Danielle Feinberg interview.
So before and after seeing the movie, these fun ideas will get you in the mood to learn a lot more about Day of the Dead, and Mexican culture.
I’ve rounded up 10+ crafts and fun food ideas from some of my favorite bloggers so that you can celebrate Pixar Coco at home. You can also use these projects for some fun Coco birthday party food ideas or craft ideas for a Disney birthday party.
