13 favorite Spanish Netflix shows for young children- and instructions for how to change audio and subtitle settings to Spanish in Netflix.
Which Are The Best Spanish Netflix Shows?
The number one question I receive from parents wanting to raise bilingual kids is- what shows can my kids watch in Spanish and where can I find them?
Whether it’s bilingual parents looking for some support from screen time, or non-Spanish speaking parents whose kids have taken an interest in Spanish at school or through playmates, lots of people are looking for quality screen time options in Spanish.
While I use You Tube to listen to our favorite Spanish songs, and occasionally Amazon’s Sesame Street episodes created in Spanish, when we want to watch a fun movie or show in Spanish, I’ve been turning to Netflix.
That’s because you can turn the audio to Spanish on a lot of popular shows and movies. This means my kids are watching their favorite characters with great voice-overs from the studios- in Spanish!
How To Get Spanish Netflix Shows On Your TV
In order to change the audio to Spanish (or select other languages), you simply go into the audio and subtitles menu and check if there is a Spanish option available.
Select it- and viola! This, of course, works for lots of adult movies too, if you are a parent wanting to brush up on our Spanish. You can also allow Spanish subtitles with Spanish audio or do Spanish audio with English subtitles if your kids are learning to read. The possibilities are endless.
Be warned, however- there is no indication whether a show has Spanish audio option until you have pressed play on the show and go into the menu.
Picture this- kids sit down for screen time and are so excited, they pick their show, and said show doesn’t have a Spanish option. Parents of preschoolers, you know how this ends, and it’s never with the kids quietly picking another show in Spanish (at least at my house).
So- I’ve rounded up a bunch of favorite Spanish Netflix on that do have audio in Spanish, and are a hit at Casa Pura vida. You can use this page to show your kids their options and then go into Netflix to watch- avoiding any arguments! You’re welcome!
Veggie Tales is a hilarious cartoon about vegetables who solve real world problems. This is our #1 go to show right now- the girls laugh a lot and the Spanish is a lot of fun. The Spanish is FAST- lots of talking the entire show.
All the episodes are in Spanish on Netflix, and what I love about this show is that it’s calming and the characters speak slowly. So it’s a great intro to Spanish with a familiar character and not as much dialogue.
The Cat in the Hat
A favorite around here- I didn’t know it was in Spanish until I started doing more research for this article!
Ask the Storybots
This is a Netflix produced show that we haven’t watched yet but looks cute.
Cute penguins rescue their underwater friends. Enough said.
Airplanes deliver packages to children around the world while solving problems.
Pocoyó is a fun one because it is originally a show from Spain that gained popularity in the US later. So when you watch it in Spanish, you are watching it in it’s original language.
El Chavo del ocho
This is a show beloved by children and adults all throughout Latin America. It’s old, the characters speak super fast and in a ton of double entendres, which is hysterical if you are bilingual. It’s on Netflix and I couldn’t help but include it.
My Little Pony
I don’t actually like this show too much in English because I think the ponies order each other around in a mean way- but they don’t in Spanish!
If you are familiar with the delightful children’s book series, you will love this show in Spanish too!
Little Baby Bum
These are traditional nursery rhymes and songs that are in Spanish -and we love love love this. It was both of my girl’s first screen time show, and we all still love to watch it.
PJ Masks is super popular right now and I’m so excited to see it in Spanish on Netflix. This would be an easy one to use to start introducing Spanish screen time with ids who are i school- because the show is “cool.”
The Magic School Bus
Who doesn’t love the Magic School bus? Another favorite of our Spanish Netflix shows!
All of the Tinker Bell movies in Spanish are a pure delight!
The Lego Friends are also a fun Spanish Netflix show- we haven’t watched it yet with our girls ages 3 and 5 as Common Sense Media doesn’t recommend it for under 5. I know lots of kids do watch it, however.
We love Coco and the Spanish version includes an all-star cast from Latin America so it’s like watching a completely different movie in Spanish. I’ll note- most all big Disney blockbusters from the past 15 years have Spanish audio, Coco is just one example. Cars, The Incredibles, Moana etc- all have Spanish audio.
