What do you do when your Costa Rican friends visit Colorado for the first time? Show them the snow, of course!
One of my favorite things in the whole world is having visitors to our home from Costa Rica. After spending so much time getting to know about Costa Rican culture and food, it is super fun to flip the script and show off our home and family to our visitors. Of course, since there’s no snow in Costa Rica, everyone always wants to go see the snow. Luckily here in Colorado, there is snow on the ground year round- as long as you are willing to drive to find it!
Here are a few stories of my experiences with Costa Rican friends and family who see snow for the first time in Colorado- courtesy of Walmart and Quaker State® Oil- partnering together to make keeping my car in perfect running condition easy and affordable.
Seeing snow for the first time is always so magical…. I’ll never forget the time we hosted a high school exchange student from Costa Rica. Each morning he begged to scrape the snow off of my car. I felt so bad about letting him do it- until he reminded me that he might never have the chance to do something like that again.
Or the time my daughter’s godfather flew in for her baptism, which we conveniently timed to happen the day after a big US-Costa Rica Men’s National Team match here in Denver. The game was highly controversial because of the massive amount of snow that fell. We still talk about that night!
But usually- we have to drive either to the top of the Continental Divide, or to a fun ski town to get a “true” Colorado experience with snow on the ground AND falling from the sky. Like the time I dragged my pregnant self to watch my husband and our friends hurl themselves down the tubing hill in Breckenridge. Or the time we too my mother-in-law to ride the gondola in Breckenridge in sub zero temperatures with a newborn. (This was also, actually, super fun.)
When we are driving in winter conditions and longer distances, it’s super important to have our car performing in the best shape possible. That means making sure there is air in the tires, enough gas in the tank, and that our oil change is up to date.
Luckily, our local Walmart is the perfect place to get a great deal on an oil change, or super low prices on Quaker State Oil so that you can change your oil yourself (if that’s your jam).
My experience with a Quaker State Pit Crew Oil Change at the Walmart Auto Care Center was great- for the everyday low price of $19.88 I had my oil changed, and that included up to 5 quarts of Quaker State® conventional motor oil (5W-20, 5W-30 or 10W-30), a new oil filter, chassis lubrication (where applicable), battery performance check and tire pressure adjustment as needed. If you prefer to do the oil change yourself, $20.24 gets you the Quaker State® Ultimate Durability™ Full Synthetic Motor Oil that you’ll need for the project.
So what are you waiting for? Get out and enjoy your environment, and don’t forget to make sure your car is up to date with Quaker State Oil from Walmart. For more information, check out this fun video from Quaker State Oil!
