It’s not actually Christmas until Santa Photos are taken- and we are excited to share all the details about our interactive Santa HQ experience as part of a sponsored post with Macerich.
Long gone are the days of waiting in long lines of crabby kids in order to snap a photo with Santa Claus. Today’s Santa visit and photos are all about the interactive experience, and Santa HQ by HGTV is absolutely no exception. We recently experienced Santa HQ at Flatirons Crossing Mall and had so much fun! Here are the highlights.
Santa HQ Photo Reservation
The Santa HQ is by far the greatest part of our visit-we had a reservation and were able to go through the entire interactive visit (details below) at our own pace. Absolutely no waiting! There are Santa HQ locations at Macerich properties here in Colorado, as well as the Washington, D.C. corridor, Metro New York and California, Oregon, Arizona, and Chicago.
Naughty or Nice Meter
It was super fun for the kids to step on the Naughty or Nice meter to see how they did this year. Then, their names appeared on the big screen under the list. I especially loved that I came out super high on the nice list! Maybe Santa will bring me a Jamaica vacation this year?
This was my girls’ favorite part of Santa HQ because they got to experience the Santa’s world through interactive tablets. It was one of our first experiences with augmented reality, and the girls thought it was super cool. Especially when they put the tablets up to the ceiling and saw how Santa slows time down so he has time to get presents to all the kids.
I loved that there was a little photo booth for fun, informal photos before the big Santa photo. This gave my girls time to warm up to the camera and get out their jitters before the big photo. They even let me take a photo with my girls- which was super fun because usually I am the one behind the camera.
And of course, the photos with Santa. My girls loved seeing Santa and talking to him, and there were so many amazing photos that it was hard to choose just one. And the girls were pretty excited about the fun activity book they received as a gift from Santa at the end.
So make sure to visit a Macerich property near you- and don’t forget to make a reservation for your own Santa HQ visit with Santa. We spent time at Flatirons Crossing Mall, and you can find the full schedule of their Santa HQ events– including story time with Santa- on their website.
