the perfect box tops holder for back to school

The past few years, Back to School time has been a little rough for me- I can’t even lie. When I was in school I LOVED to participate in all of the preparation for school- shopping for school supplies, carefully labeling all of my materials and organizing everything in my backpack. It should be no surprise that after college I went on to teach public school for 15 years, leaving the classroom two years ago when my second daughter was born.

I spent four years advising these young women- graduation day was definitely bittersweet!

Teaching is a tough profession for a lot of reasons. There’s the late nights lesson planning and grading, the stress of executing lessons to a less than impressed group of teenagers, and of course the astronomical amount of money most teacher spend on school supplies each year (and usually out of their own pockets.) That said, I miss teaching almost every day- interacting with students kept me trendy, on my toes, and laughing- a LOT.

The first day of preschool was also bittersweet- but she loved every minute of it!

My role in schools has changed- now I’m a parent sending my daughter off to school, and it’s important for me to support her teachers as much as I can. For me, that means stocking up on classroom supplies to donate. It also means I religiously save Box Tops- the program provided the schools I worked in with money for enrichment activities we couldn’t have afforded otherwise.

Back to School time means that we can double up on our support of schools by stocking up on necessities for our home and classrooms- cold and flu season means teachers go through a LOT paper products. This year, I stocked up on some great products that also include Box Tops to donate to Big Sister’s classroom- Kleenex® Trusted Care* 3 Bundle Pack, Kleenex® Trusted Care* 4 Bundle Pack, Scott® Tissue 20 Roll Pack,  and the Viva® Vantage® 6 Big Rolls. Since we had so many Box Tops from these products, I created this adorable DIY Box Tops holder for the refrigerator- and a free printable.

All you need  to be a hero for your school is a sheet protector, two small sticky magnets, and the free printable.  I printed my box tops holder on card stock for added durability, and then just added some sticky magnets to the back of the sheet protector. It’s such a cute reminder to save and turn in your Box Tops.

I stocked up on all my Back to School paper products for home and school at Walmart -where I also found all the supplies for this project.
