My husband grew up playing soccer in the minor leagues in Costa Rica, and he is still a fiercely loyal Costa Rica soccer fan. I have great memories of watching tournament games when we were dating, and we’ve continued that tradition into our marriage.
June means the big annual CONCACAF international soccer tournament, of which the US, Mexico and Costa Rica are members. Summer and soccer mean one thing- bringing our fighting spirit to soccer watch parties that include delicious drinks! I love this beer margarita because, well, I love beer, and this is recipe isn’t very sweet, which makes pairing it with food a whole lot of fun.
Beer Margarita Recipe
Yield- 1 pitcher of margaritas, or about 4 servings
- 1/2 cup limeade concentrate (I used the frozen kind and just added water)
- 3-4 limes, sliced into wedges
- Salt, to rim the glass
- 2 bottles Modelo Beer (Negra or Especial)
- 1/2 cup tequila (I used Casa Noble clear and it was super delicious!)
- 1 cup ice
Combine limeade, Modelo and tequila in a large pitcher, stirring well. Add ice, and extra limes if you want. Take a lime wedge and run it around each glass, then salt the rim. I salt the rim by putting a generous amount of salt on a small plate, then wetting the rim of the glass. Press the rim lightly into the salt. Finally, pour a serving of margarita into each glass and enjoy! (Please enjoy responsibly, these margaritas are strong!)
