skittles football party game

Fall is in the air, and at Casa Pura Vida that means… football! We love to watch the games with friends old and new- one of our favorite things to do is invite people from different walks of life into our home to watch the big game. There’s nothing more fun than cheering for the home team- and mixing a little game-time trash-talking in too! When the game is on it’s easy to focus on the screen, but we like to have fun and interact with our guests at the end of each quarter- and especially at halftime!

I LOVE Skittles®- the way they taste and also the colors make them a beautiful pop of color for a football party. That’s why we created this simple and fun Skittles NFL Football Party Homegate Challenge! And you can create your own fun homegating party game with just a few simple supplies.

SKittles Homegating Challenge Supplies 1

Supplies:

  • 2-3 14 oz bags of Skittles Original candies (I buy these at my local Kroger)
  • 1 small jar for each guest
  • Labels for the jar (I used chalkboard labels)
  • Marker or pen
  • Large bowl
  • Printable Skittles Football Game Challenge sheet (Click here to download the printable sheet!)

Directions:

  1. As guests arrive, ask them to get a mini-jar and label it with their name using the pen you provide. (You could also pre-set this step if your guests are good abut RSVP-ing!)
  2. From the bowl of Skittles, ask each guest to place as many Skittles in their jar as they believe will be the final score of the game- both teams combined. (So if the final score is 21-28, your guest would place 49 Skittles in their jar.)
  3. At the end of each quarter, fans of the losing team (or winning team. You choose!) will take the same number of Skittles as the current score of their team only, and share a moment according to the instructions on the printable. Of course, you get to eat the Skittles after sharing their moment! (I like to have a big bowl on hand anyway so people can munch and aren’t tempted to take Skittles out of their personal jar.)
  4. Let the trash-talking and laughter ensue!

I bought the 14 oz bags of Skittles right at my neighborhood Kroger (called King Soopers where I live in Denver.) I just headed to the candy aisle and found them right there. Easy- especially because I just picked them up when I was doing my regular grocery shopping, AND they were on sale with my SooperCard.
