We are more than excited to introduce our readers to Ellie Elote– a clothing line for bilingual (Spanish/English) families. Not only do they have adorable clothing, but they are a small US-run business that gives back to Mayan women in Guatemala. So read along to find out more about how you can support this amazing company- and don’t forget to enter the giveaway!

How Did We Find Ellie?

It’s not too big of a secret that we love Instagram– there’s something about getting to know other people through images instead of just text. When Ellie Elote popped up on my feed I was super intrigued- Spanglish children’s apparel? When my daughters were born, I searched high a low for cute onesies that would represent their Costa Rican AND American heritages- to no avail. I ended up with some lame DIY bodysuits that quickly went out of rotation because they weren’t all that cute to begin with (embarrassed face). So when I checked out Ellie’s beautiful Instagram feed and saw the adorable (and gender neutral) products that she offers for newborns to adults, I wanted to connect with her immediately.

Ellie’s ADORABLE Products!

We got to test the toddler “This is how I roll” T-shirt. It arrived in Ellie’s signature packaging (I’ll let you wait to get your own in the mail before revealing her secret!) the tee is not only adorable, but super soft and true to size. Our girls have extremely sensitive skin, and a lot of fabrics are irritating to them (think nasty, itchy read bumps.) These tees are a 60%/40% cotton polyester blend, and the color is super vibrant and didn’t fade after washing. What I most love about the tees is that they are made for ALL kids, and it’s not a cutesy line targeted to girls or boys. I LOVE clothing for littles that is gender neutral, and Lisa did a great job with her designs.

Ellie’s Mission

Lisa and her Guatemalan-born husband are a bilingual family, like many of us. The line was born from their love for bilingualism, and their desire to give back to Guatemalan moms. You can read more about their story over at Trilingual Mama, and check out the Mayan Families’ Well Mother, Well Baby Program– to which Ellie Elote donates proceeds from every single purchase of their apparel.

Perhaps others may realize part of my sons heritage and that our family speaks Spanish. Or just that my son is super fashionable! 😉
