Spanish language television shows can be a great way to brush up on your Spanish skills- I highly suggest adding subtitles in either Spanish or English to read while you watch if you are feeling a bit rusty.

Think: Downtown Abbey meets a Telenovela, and you’ve got Gran Hotel. This smash-hit Spanish series is perfectly soapy and very addictive! Highly recommended for Spanish language learners!
This Spanish dramedy follows a struggling writer and her best friends. Great gal-pal energy, and perfect for fans of Sex and the City!
Absorbing and suspenseful, this highly acclaimed Spanish crime drama lives up to the hype! An adaptation from the original Korean show.

A dysfunctional family struggles to keep their flower business afloat in this dark, witty comedy.
Set in 1920’s Spain, this period drama explores how the lives of four women are changed once they begin work at a telecommunications company in Madrid. Las Chicas del Cable deals with really relevant subject matter, investigating gender dynamics, friendships, and workplace realities.

Netflix Spanish Shows For Teens
These shows are good for teenagers- and also for Spanish teachers looking for some fun homework assignments or clips to use in class.

The ultimate feel-good show, One Day at a Time chronicles the hectic and often humorous life of a tight-knit Hispanic family and their eccentric landlord.
Though originally shot in English, this series has both Spanish audio and subtitles. A huge bonus is that Rita Moreno stars!
A deliciously soapy teen drama that follows three working-class students attending a cutthroat private prep school in Spain.
A riff on the classic telenovela genre, Jane the Virgin follows titular character, Jane Villanueva, as she copes with a surprise pregnancy.
With stellar work from Gina Rodriguez, a sharp script, and irresistible charm, this series is a must-watch! Originally in English, this cult favorite can be watched in Spanish.
Spanish Shows For Kids
One of the big advantages to Spanish shows for kids on Netflix is that the language input can be changed for almost any cartoon and you really don’t notice. The Latin American dubbing is generally excellent too. Here are a few favorites.

Spanning nine seasons, My Little Pony children’s show with fantastic characters, rousing musical numbers, and positive messages about friendship.
The dialogue is clear and relatively straightforward– perfect for Spanish learners!
Personal note: I think there is a bit of mean-girl behavior in this show so we don’t watch it a ton, but the Spanish is really easy to follow and it can open things up for good conversations with your daughter.

The dashing feline fighter we all know and love from Shrek has his own Netflix series! Puss in Boots teams up with an eclectic cast of characters to defend the legendary city of San Lorenzo in this CGI adventure.
In this Mexican animated horror-comedy, a supernaturally gifted boy and his team of friends work to protect their village from legendary monsters. Definitely for older kids.
