Deciding on a destination for your honeymoon alone can be tough especially when there are so many places to choose from. My opinion? Why not try Costa Rica?

If you’re looking to take your love story to the next level, this country has a wealth of all-inclusive resorts for couples. Don’t get me wrong, Costa Rica is a great place for a family vacation too, but these all-inclusive resorts scream romance.

Why A Costa Rica Honeymoon?

For starters, it’s a ridiculously beautiful country and the safest in all of Central America! You’ll find the American dollar is widely used, and you can find everything from boutique hotels to luxury resorts and spas a mere stone’s throw from each other. Add in perfect weather, exotic beaches and wildlife, spectacular volcanoes, and pristine, lush rainforests – Costa Rica is the best way to experience your honeymoon. Seriously, what’s not to like?

Here are some cool Costa Rica all-inclusive honeymoons to consider. Note that all of the beach resorts on this list are on the Pacific Coast. You’ll want to fly into the Liberia Airport for all but one of these resports.

The Springs Resort – Arenal

One of my favorite couples’ oases, The Springs welcomes honeymooners with jaw-dropping views of the majestic Arenal Volcano National Park. Surround yourselves with steamy hot springs and thermal pools, posh spas and treatment rooms. The luxury honeymoon suites open to a private volcano-fed jacuzzi overlooking tropical forests.

Together, enjoy hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting, canopy tour and/or kayaking. Visit the animal sanctuary on the property. Gorge yourself on amazing Costa Rican food. Replenish your mind at the spa. Or just relax in a hot spring and savor the picturesque views of the volcano. Perfect background for your honeymoon snaps!

This is the closest resort on the list to San Jose, it’s located in the town of La Fortuna.

Westin Reserva Conchal

This beachfront resort will give you access to one of the most gorgeous beaches in the area- Playa Conchal. You can both unwind by the shade of lush seaside trees and enjoy a cool breeze from the calm, clear waters. You are in close proximity to quite a few beautiful beaches, but my guess is that you won’t want to leave the property once you get here.

The adults-only Royal Beach Area is where all the couples’ fun is. It features private adults-only swimming pools, evening cocktails, luxury rooms, and so much romantic honeymoon fun! This would be the perfect place to kick back after a day spent birdwatching, exploring on a private yacht, or pursuing cooking lessons. This resort also has a golf course for those wishing to play.

Delivering extraordinary sunsets and stunning ocean views of the magnificent Buena beach, this adult-only resort is another great destination for lovebirds looking for luxury. The elegant deluxe rooms decorated with natural wood and the panoramic views served by their huge balconies bring you closer to nature, adding more charm to your honeymoon.

Whether at the pool or the beach, you’ll delight in the beautiful sunlight and soothing waters of Papagayo. Try a couple’s massage or body treatment under the tree canopy too. You’ll love it! You should also try watersports such as kayaking, swimming, or stand-up paddle boarding. Bird-watching is always an option too. Then when the evening comes, go dancing at the disco.

Occidental Tamarindo

Nestled on the serene Tamarindo surf beach along the Pacific coastline, this adults-only resort is waiting for honeymooners with romantic views, opulent accommodations, eye-catching sunsets, phenomenal culinary experiences, and an array of activities to ensure a blissful stay.

Come and mellow out by the poolside with an exotic cocktail or give yourself the much-deserved spa treatment. If you’re watersports junkies, go sailing, surfing, and diving…there’s a lot of fun to be had at the beach! When you’ve had enough of the water, take a tour of Baulas Marina Park and see some leatherback sea turtles. At sundown, enjoy live music at La Tortuga Lobby Bar or stay in the room and cuddle up in the jacuzzi.

Riu Palace

The Riu is another beloved destination for newlyweds seeking luxury and adventure in Guanacaste. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and feature splendid finishings and amenities. Pick the Sea View Jacuzzi Suite – this one has a private hot tub where you can both unwind and soak up the outstanding views of the turquoise Pacific waters.

Spend the day exploring the warm ocean. Lounge under the beautiful palm trees at the pool. Enjoy a therapeutic session at the wellness center. Sample some divine drinks at the swim-up bar. Take a day trip to Rincón de la Vieja National Park and go ziplining or canyoneering. Really, the list of things you can do here to recharge after your wedding is endless!

Azura Beach Resort

Lush green trees, a golden sandy beach, and gorgeous sunsets grace this adult-only resort that welcomes hundreds of couples every year to Samara Beach With a unique architectural design that ensures total privacy on each balcony and terrace, Azura is a favorite for lovebirds looking for optimal seclusion. Some rooms even allow you to swim to the pool and back!

Some of the must-dos include surfing, an ATV ride to the waterfall, snorkeling the Carrillo reef, and kayaking to Chira island. Like eating fish? Go deep-sea fishing and you can bring your catch back to the resort and have the excellent chefs cook it for you! This is one of the best places to completely unplug from everything.

With refreshing spa treatments, relaxing sunbaths at the beautiful infinity pool, and breathtaking views of sprawling mountains and valleys from the sumptuous, romantic suites, Los Altos is an adults-only resort that’ll offer you nothing less than a magical experience. This hotel is also on the popular surf beach of Tamarindo.

While it’s a little distant from the beach, there’s still plenty of adventurous stuff to tickle your fancy. Try hiking or ziplining through the tropical rainforest, or take a free shuttle to the beach and indulge in a couple of watersports. In the evening, enjoy a romantic sunset dinner from the comfort of your private balcony.

La Paloma Lodge

Resting on a hillside and delivering scenic views of the glorious Pacific Ocean, La Paloma is a fantastic option for honeymooners who like to spend their time with Mother Nature and exotic wildlife. This hotel is in Drake Bay on the Osa peninsula- one of the most remote and wild national parks in Costa Rica. It’s amazing!

You’ll enjoy birdwatching, horseback riding, hiking, swimming, kayaking, scuba diving, and so much more. The pool area is an amazing spot to chill out, but after a long day playing in the ocean and romping the jungle, you will likely want more than just sitting by the pool. So, head back to the room and order a private massage. After, cuddle up in the hammock and listen to the waves crashing on the beach.

For this hotel, I recommend flying into the San Jose airport and taking a domestic transfer into Drake Bay.

Villa Buena Onda

An isolated adult-only property, Villa Buena Onda, sits high on the hillside with spectacular views of the Gulf of Papagayo, where couples can honeymoon in a private, luxurious setting. Two outdoor pools offer a splash of excitement, while guests who want some pampering can delight in a relaxing body treatment at the spa. There are only 8 rooms at this resort, making it very intimate.

Rooms feature elegant décor and large sliding doors that open to private balconies where you can both swing in a hammock and sip a cocktail as you take in the beautiful views of Papagayo Bay. Take advantage of the free shuttle and explore the local beach – Playa del Coco is just five minutes away.

Planet Hollywood

Situated on the Papagayo Peninsula and adjacent to both the Four Seasons resort and the Andaz Papagayo, Planet Hollywood is an opulent all-inclusive complete with an unforgettable spa. It’s also a short drive o the Liberia Airport, clocking in at just 30 minutes away.

Dine at any of the property’s a la carte restaurants, or sleep late and enjoy the all-day buffet. Not leaving your room? 24-hour room service is also available.

If you are feeling fancy, upgrade your all-inclusive experience to the Star Club and access the private pools and cabanas. The hotel also offers many local tours in the area, including zip lining and hot springs. This is a favorite hotel of ours- ask for the honeymoon packages when you book.
