There’s just something about holiday movie season! I have the best memories of school breaks and asking mom and dad to head to Blockbuster to rent our favorite VCR movies (yep, I’m old!). We would watch our favorites over and over as the snow fell and the days seemed endless.

As an adult, heading to the movie theater replicates that feeling for me- whether it’s date night, family movie trip, or girls’ night at the movies. In anticipation of the 2018 holiday movie season, I’ve rounded up three Disney movies I can’t wait to see when they open.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms- November 2, 2018

I am so excited for this film! Two words- Misty Copeland. I’m a dancer and a clarinet player, and know every note of the Nutcracker by heart! When I wasn’t playing The Nutcracker music in the orchestra, I was dancing on stage, and we still go see it in the theater every year to celebrate Christmas. Nothing says holiday time like The Nutcracker, and I love that Disney has given The Nutcracker a backstory with a bit of a dark side. Check out the trailer:

I loved seeing Morgan Freeman right at the beginning- and Helen Mirren! Kiera Knightly and the Sugar Plum Fairy! Plus the setting and the music… going to be so good! Here’s the synopsis from Disney:

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world. Starring Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Disney’s new holiday feature film “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is directed by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston, and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale.

Ralph Breaks the Internet- November 21

This movie is going to be fun for the whole family! Did you see the new trailer that just came out yesterday? I love the soundtrack teasers as much as the plot ones!

I’m sooo excited about the addition of Taraji P. Henson to this cast, and of course Gal Gadot is always so great. Check out this synopsis fro Disney for more info:

In RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET, video-game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) leave the comforts of Litwak’s arcade in an attempt to save her game, Sugar Rush. Their quest takes them to the vast, uncharted world of the internet where they rely on the citizens of the internet—the Netizens—to help navigate their way. Lending a virtual hand are Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), the head algorithm and the heart and soul of the trend-making site “BuzzzTube,” and Shank (voice of Gal Gadot), a tough-as-nails driver from a gritty online auto-racing game called Slaughter Race, a place Vanellope wholeheartedly embraces—so much so that Ralph worries he may lose the only friend he’s ever had. Directed by Rich Moore (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph”) and Phil Johnston (co-writer “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Zootopia,” writer, “Cedar Rapids”), and produced by Clark Spencer (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Bolt,” “Lilo & Stitch”), “Ralph Breaks the Internet” hits theaters on Nov. 21, 2018.

Mary Poppins Returns- December 19th, 2018

I can’t decide if I’m a bigger Mary Poppins fan (my kids call her the magic babysitter) or Lin-Manuel Miranda fan. So when I found out that Lin Manuel Miranda plays Mary Poppins’ friend Jack in the 2018 version of Mary Poppins Returns, I was sooooo excited! There’s tons of other fun cast members too- just watch the trailer so I don’t spoil it for you:

Hello!!!! Colin Firth? Meryl Streep? Dick Van Dyke? Angela Lansbury- I am so excited! Here’s a quick synopsis of the film courtesy of Disney studios:
